Preparing to mint your artwork? This guide covers key steps to ensure a smooth process including file compatibility, burning artworks, setting up Splits and more.

How to Prepare your Artwork for Mint

Minting with Transient Labs? You can check our theirs docs here for assistance.

No matter what you're using to mint, you should double check that your artwork displays properly in common browsers before tokenizing. You can do this by opening the image/video file locally in your browsers first. Checking compatibility with various browsers before tokenizing is a good step to include– as this is the most common issue artists encounter.

When tokenizing an MP4 or GLB file, a thumbnail file is also required. Thumbnails can be PNG, JPEG, or GIF and up to 10MB. This file may also be lightly compressed for display across the SuperRare site. Which may have minor impacts to colour and will be cropped to square.

The artwork shown on the artwork's main page will be a high quality display version we create for page stability– opening the artwork full screen will display the original piece.

If you need it, Handbrake is a great free video encoder you can use to configure your video file for tokenization.

How to Remove an Artwork (Burning)

Removing V1 tokens

WARNING: Burning is irreversible – only perform on artworks you want to burn forever.

If you want to remove an artwork from your profile or collection permanently, you can use the transfer button on your artwork's detail page and send it to the following address:

0x41A322b28D0fF354040e2CbC676F0320d8c8850d

This is the SuperRare 'Burn Address'. More precisely, it is a smart contract no one has access to. Any artwork sent to this address will be permanently removed from circulation.

PLEASE NOTE: Other platforms like OpenSea are not guaranteed to honour artworks sent to the SuperRare burn address.

How to Setup Splits for Collaboration

With the Splits feature, you can easily share earnings from your sales by adding up to 3 ETH addresses to split sales with. This works whether you're setting auctions, list prices, or accepting offers. Splits apply to transactions in ETH, $RARE and USDC.

Whether you're working with collaborators, contributors, or donating to charities, simply enter the ETH addresses and the percentage of the sales of those you'd like to share revenue with when listing a piece on the marketplace.

How To Reroute Contract Royalties

There's plenty of reasons to reroute a series contract or artwork's royalties — whether you're adding a new wallet address or your wallet's been compromised, this article will walk you through that process!

PLEASE NOTE: the royalty registry won't work on SuperRare V2 tokens - if you're unsure if your tokens are eligible, please contact SuperRare support via the chat bubble below to verify.

Step 1: Searching for Your Series Contract

In order to configure your royalties, you'll first need to head to royaltyregistry.xyz/configure, enter you contract address in the search box and click the arrow to progress.

Step 2: Creating a New Override Contract

Once you've found for your contract, click the "create new override" button to create a new override contract - this contract will handle your new royalties configuration.

Note that it says This Token already support EIP2981 and you DO NOT need to set a new override - if you're working with a SuperRare contract, this is simply pointing out that the contract already has royalty functionality, however, if you're looking to make a change to how royalties are routed you can ignore this text and proceed as instructed.

Step 3: Deploying the Contract

Deploying your contract will require that you sign 2 different transactions with your wallet. The first transaction (arrow #1) is to confirm the contracts creation and the second transaction (arrow #2) is to set it so that it can reroute your royalties.

Once you're finished approving both transactions, you can click the configure override button (arrow #3) to proceed to the configuration screen.

Step 4: Configuring your Contract

On this screen you'll be able to edit either your default contract royalty configuration (every artwork in the contract) or per-token royalty configuration (individual artworks in the contract)

Default Contract Royalty Configuration:

Just add the new recipient wallet address for the wallet you'd like to receive royalties and adjust the BPS (Basis Points - click for info) to set the percentage of royalties you'd like allocated to the new wallet.

Per-Token Royalty Configuration:

First you'll need to input the token ID for the artwork you'd like to configure, once completed follow the steps for the default contract option above to set the royalties for the artwork.

Step 5: Future Configurations

Finally, if you wish to reconfigure your override contracts parameters in the future, you can simply input your contract address into the royaltyregistry.eth/configure search bar seen in step 1 and it will pull up the option to configure your contract once again.
