TL;DR?

SuperRare is expanding to support multiple chains to best serve artists, collectors, and the evolving ecosystem.

What’s the first additional chain SuperRare will support?

SuperRare will support the Layer 2 chain built by Coinbase, called Base.

What is Base?

Base is a Layer 2 (L2) scaling solution built on top of Ethereum. It reduces transaction costs and improves transaction speed by moving transactions off the Ethereum mainnet while maintaining Ethereum’s security and decentralization.

What’s the advantage of having $RARE on Base?

Having $RARE on Base unlocks lower gas fees to claim your rewards. Additionally, it sets the stage for SuperRare’s foray into a multichain future, enabling greater flexibility and scalability across different networks.

What is the contract address for $RARE on Base?

0x691077c8e8de54ea84efd454630439f99bd8c92f

Does the bridge for $RARE transfers take 7 days, or is it faster?

Our bridge uses CCIP, allowing for rapid transfers, so there is no 7-day waiting period. You can find our bridge here.

Is $RARE on Base the same as $RARE on Ethereum?

Yes, $RARE on Base is the same as $RARE on the Ethereum mainnet. The two can be bridged between L1 and L2 like any other asset.

Will $RARE still exist on ETH mainnet?

Yes, $RARE will continue to exist on the Ethereum mainnet.

How do I claim Season 2 $RARE rewards on Base?

To claim Season 2 $RARE rewards on Base, you’ll need to bridge ETH to receive ETH-Base, which is used to pay for Base network gas fees. Here’s a help desk guide on how to bridge ETH to Base: Bridging to Base for Season 2 $RARE Claim

Where is the Season 2 $RARE token I claimed in my wallet?

If you don't see your $RARE token you claim on Base, you need to import the RARE token contract on Base: 0x691077c8e8de54ea84efd454630439f99bd8c92f

For tipping eligibility, do I need to hold 2,500 $RARE on Base, or does it need to be on Ethereum?

You need to hold 2,500 $RARE on Ethereum mainnet to qualify for eligibility.

Can I mint NFTs on Base?

Not yet, but the foundation we’re building on Base will eventually allow for minting and transactions on Base.

Are all SuperRare NFTs migrating to Base?

No. We believe Ethereum mainnet will continue to hold enduring value for artists and collectors alike, as its significance in the NFT space remains unparalleled.

Base and other multi-chain solutions will open new avenues for discovery and economic opportunities, much like Ethereum did for NFTs. These L2 and multichain networks complement Ethereum, offering more affordable and scalable options while expanding creative and economic possibilities.

What other chains will SuperRare support?

To be determined.

If I want to transfer $RARE to Binance, should I use Ethereum mainnet?

Yes, to transfer $RARE to Binance or similar exchanges, you should use Ethereum mainnet.
